Weld Engineering Specialist

Manufacturing Engineering

In this position…What you’ll do…

  • Apply knowledge of welding processes, procedures, equipment, and evaluation techniques to deliver weld quality objectives.
  • Development of weld parameters that meet product specifications
  • Implement weld certification (quality) strategy during launch and product or process change events.
  • Develop weld control plans and enforce requirements.
  • Develop Assembly process systems aligned to standard Bill of Process strategies through enquiry, procurement, simultaneous engineering, build, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Work with cross functional team to develop quality documentation such as SCCAF, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans (DCP).
  • Collaborate with plant personnel and skilled trades to plan equipment installations and development prove out plans the ensure equipment is ready for production
  • Have a proven record of problem solving and appropriate use of error proofing devices. Be able to identify root cause, and development and implement ICA/PCA solutions
  • Use welding system monitoring data for the evaluation of process quality control.
  • Incorporate continuous improvements utilizing Continuous Improvement / Lessons Learned, Deviation and Decision Record Process.
  • Flexibility in work location, ability to travel up to 70%, and work various shifts, weekends and holidays when required

You’ll have…

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years’ experience working with welding equipment in an engineering role

Even better, you may have…

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, (Welding, Physics, Material Science, etc.) or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in working with welding equipment in an engineering role
  • Experience with laser welding & High-Speed Automated Assembly Processes
  • Demonstrated experience in developing advanced manufacturing process innovation projects
  • Experience with machine design and weld process optimization
  • Project management experience balancing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical thinking, as well as problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic working environment of a diverse team in an evolving industry
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
