Job Summary/Basic Functions

Migrant Education Summer Tutor/Staff provide academic support, student supervision, program preparation and service delivery to regional migrant education program student participants. When needed, provide tutoring within the migrant families’ homes, attend group outings, etc. Staff facilitates programs/workshops/classes and assists in tutoring and student evaluation. Migrant Education Summer Tutor provide service in various settings including school, home, community agencies and at universities and colleges. Staff must attend program specific trainings and be knowledgeable of the Kentucky public education system.

The Migrant Education Summer Tutor will work with Pk, K-12, middle school thru high school aged Migrant Education Program students; serve as a small group facilitator; provide supervision and assistance with camp activities. The Migrant Education Summer Tutor/Staff will have the opportunity of working with diversity within staff, students, and migrant families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have academic experience working in a K-12 school setting, especially with students in middle and high school and those who have been enrolled in the Migrant Education Program – Bilingual skills – both written and oral in English and Spanish are preferred. Candidates working toward a bachelor, master’s degree in education and/or teaching certificate are also preferred. Though preferred, the above qualifications are not required. In the past, we have staffed college majors in education, social work, pre-law, social justice, Spanish, marketing, art & humanities, business, science, Appalachian Studies, health and human performance, music, nursing, psychology, political science, sociology, technology, math, etc.

Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.
