Position Highlights:

What you will need:
  • Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in biology or a related scientific field with an understanding of using biostatistical programs. Prior experience in cancer biology research is highly desirable.
  • Certification: N/A
  • Experience: Experience with tissue processing, sectioning, staining and routine histological methods. Molecular biology techniques and use of mouse models also relevant. Must be willing to learn new techniques.
  • Skills: Pubmed research skills, able to troubleshoot technical problems related to research. Must be prepared to work with rodent and human samples. Tissue/histology techniques, including immunolabeling of tissue sections (IHC and IF). Experience with animal dissections and surgery desirable, and willingness to learn essential methods to complete projects. General molecular and biochemical techniques (PCR, western blotting, etc.). Cell culture. Viral transduction is desirable.
What you will do:
  • Study biologic mechanisms underlying prostate diseases, specifically prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia
  • Be involved in both in vitro and in vivo models and be responsible for handling and processing of human clinical samples and mouse tissue samples
  • Under minimal supervision, setting up and conducting experiments, troubleshooting techniques and developing and applying protocols
  • Record and analyze data and assist with figures for manuscripts and grants
  • Perform and assist in general laboratory and research functions including ordering and storage of reagents and preparation of equipment
  • Assist with training of summer research students
