The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. The Real-Time Passenger Information Manager position is an amazing opportunity for someone who gets excited about developing and implementing a vision, responding to customer needs and expectations and organizing data to tell a story to diverse audiences. This position is responsible for managing the content and quality of real-time passenger information for MDOT MTA’s operating modes. Over the course of a day, the Program Manager may facilitate brainstorming, dig into analytics, interview a rider, or troubleshoot a database. The Program Manager combines technical knowledge of how real-time customer information systems work, a practical understanding of customers’ expectations and perceptions, and skills in media and communications to help design, implement and operate systems and processes that meet customers’ needs for accurate and timely real-time transit service information.The RTPI Manager is passionate about transit technology, a self-starter, has sharp problem-solving skills, is a quick learner, and is an effective communicator to varying levels of staff. This position is where customer communications intersect with operations technology data to drive improvements in the customer experience.The RTPI Manager will: Develop, define, and manage MDOT MTA’s vision and roadmap for real-time passenger information.Manage and troubleshoot all data sources to assure accuracy/consistency, which includes but is not limited to, vehicle positions, vehicle assignments, Automated Passenger Counters, GTFS and GTFS-RT components, and data exports from 3rd party vendors.Perform data analysis and research to identify key factors that impact real-time prediction accuracy. Collect, clean, and prepare data for analysis. Create and maintain databases and spreadsheets, Organize data and results of analytics projects for diverse audiences.Work with 3rd parties and internal stakeholders to ensure that the display of customer-facing data and information aligns with agency needs.Develop and manage decision-making processes around real-time data technologies and content.Lead collaborative efforts to establish processes to effectively resolve customer issues around real-time data and content.Engage riders to gather feedback on customer experience with RTPI to inform prioritization of real-time projects.Develop new data communication and transfer protocols via API and/or other middlewareHave Knowledge and familiarity with common databases and data access tools and data visualization tools.MDOT offers a generous and competitive benefits package. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Urban Planning, Analytics, Statistics, Communications, Computer Science/Engineering, Management, or closely related field Experience: four (4) or more years of experience in project management, data analysis, technology innovation, planning, communications, or supporting customer information data, or related field. Two (2) years of managerial experiencev.Notes: 1. Additional experience in administrative or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.2. Additional graduate-level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-to-year basis for the required general experience.3.
