Job Title: Ocean Export Specialist
Job Location: Charleston, SC

We have an exciting opportunity for an OCEAN EXPORT SPECIALIST with excellent communication and customer service skills. Accuracy and timely movement of freight and information is a key component for this position. This position will be based at our North Charleston location.
Wage dependent upon experience, hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates/confirms transport order to ensure delivery of the shipment to the final customer
- Performs booking and booking optimization
- Prepares, controls and distributes all required Import documents to counterparts (carrier, consignee, supplier, etc.) and then checks responses from counterparts and finalizes validation of required documents
- Follows-up on shipment status in the Import/Export area; identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents
- Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution
- Maintains excellent relationships with suppliers
- Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers, and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance
- Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience with Ocean Exports required.
- Must be able to work, communicate, and resolve problems that arise in the movement of product into/out of the US
- Attention to detail and excellent oral and written skills required, some customer service experience desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Communicate exceptions and shipment status with CustomerCommunicate and resolve problems that arise in the movement of productServe as a liaison between Document Processing Agent and the Customer regarding shipment details and/or exceptionVerify shipment status, review pre-alert and verify shipment handling instructions to operationsReview/update; verify fees, customer profile, SOP, and rates per quote or customer SOP/work instructionsConfirm all shipment information with origin to initiate shipment
Receive and validate customers order including shipping documents, SLI, EIN, credit applicationBachelor’s degree preferred, High school diploma or GED requiredHazmat certification is a plusLOGIS or Cargo Wise systems knowledge is a plusStrong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Exceptional customer service and follow up skillsAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectivelyAbility to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environmentKnowledge of Inco Terms a plusStrong Understanding of Ocean Import regulations and documents. Minimum 2 years Ocean Imports experience in the freight forwarding or International Supply Chain industry.
