Job Summary

The primary responsibility for this position will be to participate in the large animal hospital emergency service after hours and to oversee the large animal hospital emergency student rotation. Opportunities to participate in the daytime surgical service are available. The large animal hospital emergency service is responsible for the emergency care of all large animal species including equine, bovine, ovine, caprine, porcine, and some exotics. This position would require an approximately 70% clinical appointment. The remaining on-call responsibilities will be shared with clinicians in Large Animal Surgery and Large Animal Medicine. This is a one-year position with the opportunity for annual renewals depending upon hospital needs and strong performance; benefits do apply.

Required:

  • Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
  • Must be able to work in stressful and emergency situations without direct supervision
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
