The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting key products within 3M’s building & construction markets. This individual will be responsible for raw material through finished goods of a product platform and will be expected to drive results in EHS, Quality, Service, and Cost performance within the assigned products.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

Identify and implement programs that reduce unit costs
Identify and implement programs that improve quality and productivity
Optimizes manufacturing processes and provides technical support for manufacturing
Develops and maintains Production Standards
Actively participates in the development of new products and processes to promote business growth and productivity targets, including scale-up, equipment and process qualification and validation
Utilize Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing Methods to improve processes and reduce waste
Drive root cause identification and resolution of process and product upsets
Monitor and improve processes using Statistics and SPC
Improve Environmental, Health, and Safety of the manufacturing operation through leadership of EHS improvement projects and Process Hazard Management
Actively participates in EHS Committees and Programs
Development of Standard Work Procedures in support of process improvements, trains and develops workforce as needed to advance the operation

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Previous combined engineering and/or manufacturing experience (internship/co-op experience applies) in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Cross functional team contributions and leadership skills
Experience with leading DMAIC Six Sigma projects – Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
Experience with developing and implementing Lean Systems and Standard Work
2+ years Engineering or Manufacturing experience
Solid analytical and statistical skills
Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written & oral

Work location:

Knoxville, Iowa

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $95,825 – $117,120, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
