Job Description

We’re in the midst of the biggest change the automotive industry has ever seen. Just as cars changed the world over the last century, new technologies such as self-driving cars, electric powertrains, and connected vehicles will radically reshape how we live, work, and play in the next hundred years. As a leader on the Digital Product Design Team, you’ll be at the heart of creating that future. Every day, Ford’s vehicles, and services support millions of people around the world. You’ll lead our teams in deeply understanding our users’ needs throughout all steps of the design process, from initial human-centered insight, through concept generation and evaluation, identifying ways we can continuously iterate and improve our designs through customer feedback and analytics.

As a Digital Product Designer, you are a hands-on practitioner who is passionate about your craft, compelled to build leading edge future concepts for Ford vehicles. Together with your team, you will drive innovation and create delightful, transformative, connected vehicle experiences. This is a California based role that will require work on-site at Ford’s Design Studios in Irvine, CA and Palo Alto, CA.

What will it be like to work on the Model e team?

We are passionate about solving hard problems. We are swift and decisive, trusting the experts, believing the data, seeking out and listening to bold intuition – regardless of the source. We are insurgents. Never satisfied, averse to complexity, suspicious of habits and open to risk. We focus on the mission and deliver with urgency and speed. We are an agile team leveraging rapidly evolving technology to innovate, fail fast and pivot. Most importantly we raise the talent bar with every hire.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Represent the human perspective throughout the product lifecycle – from problem framing, ideation, iterative design, development and delivery
  • Work as a collaborative team member with business partners, product owners, product managers, software engineers and fellow designers
  • Guide product decisions through a deep understanding of actual consumers who use our products and services; conduct exploratory research and analysis to connect with the audience
  • Facilitate and participate in design workshops and collaboration sessions with technical and non-technical partners to expand thinking and build space for innovation
  • Generate ideas and rapidly build design prototypes to bring ideas to life, and quickly evaluate and iterate
  • Design, implement, and adapt digital design systems, data visualizations, on-brand visual design, illustrations, etc.
Produce what is vital for successful implementation, prioritizing demos over documents

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s degree in visual design, visual communications, or relevant design-driven discipline and/or 5+ years digital UX/UI design experience
  • 2+ years of proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Miro, Framer)

Our preferred Requirements :

  • Experience working independently with internal stakeholders and / or clients.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems; be committed to lifelong design learning.
  • Technical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Previous experience leading people and teams.
  • Passionate about automotive and/or experience designing for integrated hardware/software systems.
  • Portfolio of design work that demonstrates depth of craft experience and strategic, human-centered approach to design (portfolio link or PDF).

What you’ll receive in return:
As part of the Ford family, you’ll enjoy excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation and much more. You’ll also experience exciting opportunities for professional and personal growth and recognition.

If you have what it takes to help us redefine the future of mobility, we’d love to have you join us.

At Ford, the health and safety of our employees is our top priority. Vaccination has been proven to play a critical role in combatting COVID-19. As a result, Ford has made the decision to require U.S. salaried employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless employees require an accommodation for religious or medical reasons. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption.

If you require alternative methods of application or screening, you must approach the employer directly to request this as H1BVisaJobs is not responsible for the employer’s application process.
