Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Coordinator in the Center for STEM Excellence provides enabling support for initiatives that expand access to and support excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning experiences at EKU. Applicants with strong content knowledge in one or more STEM discipline and/or experience with the teaching and learning of quantitative reasoning skills are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited or internationally recognized institution in a STEM or STEM Education or equivalent discipline

Experience: Able to effectively work independently and within a team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited or internationally recognized institution in a STEM or STEM Education or equivalent discipline

Demonstrated commitment to student success in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics disciplines

Secondary or postsecondary teaching experience in a STEM discipline

Demonstrated experience with educational program development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.

Ability to propose creative and innovative solutions

Job Duties:

  • 40% – Oversee daily operations of the Center for STEM Excellence; coordinate personnel and activities related to drop-in learning, skill-building workshops, and other regularly offered student support services to ensure efficiency and efficacy. – (Essential)
  • 40% – Collaboratively plan and assist with implement of one-day events, multi-day workshops, and programs to help ensure activities achieve the desired goals and occur in accordance with any award stipulations; duties may include scheduling and reservations, speaker contracts and logistics, developing and distributing promotional/recruiting materials and event materials, recruiting participants, tracking applicants, disbursement of funds, and securing housing and meals for participants. – (Essential)
  • 10% – Communicate and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, the university community, and external stakeholders. – (Essential)
  • 10% – Supports the Center for STEM Excellence functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. – (Essential)
