Job Description

Role Summary

The infrastructure engineer should have a solid understanding of systems, networking and security in the on-premises, cloud, and hybrid world. The nature of the work involved means that the infrastructure engineer will directly engage with internal teams but will also work on the infrastructure platform capabilities that span several teams.

The infrastructure engineer reports to the IT Manager and collaborates closely with the data architect, Managed Solutions Providers, and other subject matter experts and roles, particularly in infrastructure and operations. Being an approachable team player and a good communicator is therefore crucial for success, and a willingness to lead initiatives is important.

The infrastructure engineer also supports colleagues with complex operational concerns in areas such as deployment activities, incident and problem management, availability, capacity, and service- level management as well as service continuity.

Responsibilities:

Oversee, optimize, and secure IT infrastructure using advanced monitoring tools and security measures, identifying and remediating technical disruptions to improve system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
Design, build, maintain and improve infrastructure solutions addressing nonfunctional requirements like data protection, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with integrations to ensure smooth data flow vendors to implement updates and new integration as needed.
Research, phototype, and implement new tools and technologies to enhance platform capabilities and reduce manual tasks. Participate in planning the optimization activities including capacity, reliability, cost management, and performance engineering.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to under requirements and deliver infrastructure solution aligned with business objectives.
Lead problem management activities, including post-incident analysis, creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configuration, processes and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Five years of experience in network and IT administration, preferably in a construction or engineering industry.
SQL Server installation, configuration, backups, and maintenance experience.
Strong knowledge of network protocols, standards, and security best practices, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN.
Strong experience with analysis and planning, implementation, and maintenance of identity and access management solutions including okta, active directory/Azure AD, group policy, SSO, and hierarchy and federation.
Cloud provider services such as AWS, Azure, Cisco Meraki.
Infrastructure scripting and automation experience using PowerShell or similar tools.
Cloud/Hybrid security skills such as encryption, SSL, certificates.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location: Remote/Hybrid Schedule (Oakland and Milpitas, CA)

Base Salary range: $140,000 – $160,000
