The primary responsibility of this position is to purchase, receive, store, and distribute materials in support of MPA terminal operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Some of the essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Directs and supervises the procurement operations and functions of a small State institution;Prepares or reviews all final requisitions for all supplies, materials, equipment and service contracts purchased by a small State institution;Establishes practical inventory levels as well as inventory control measures;Directs and supervises the operations of all storerooms, handling the receipt, storage, and issuing of supplies, materials, and equipment;Supervises and directs all office and storeroom personnel directly related to the purchasing section;Secures bids and awards contracts on specific lines of merchandise not purchased through the Purchasing Bureau;Keeps records of prices and sources of supply;Prepares specifications and standards for purchases;Studies market conditions and the quality and price of goods;Signs all purchase orders and requisition forms;Follows up orders and irregularities;The current vacancy exists at the MPA Dundalk Marine Terminal. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Five years of experience in receiving, storing, issuing, purchasing and requisitioning supplies, materials, and equipment, three years of which must have included experience at the supervisory or management level or must have involved the final responsibility for purchasing and requisitioning. Note: Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for one year of experience for up to one year of the required general experience.
