Ford’s Aerodynamics team is looking for an exceptional, well rounded, Aerodynamics Engineer to grow our capabilities and help us accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. You will be involved in the development of ground-breaking new products from their earliest conception, through to volume production and beyond, delivering unparalleled efficiency and ludicrous performance alongside uncompromising comfort, safety and reliability. The successful candidate will have a proven record of applying deep technical understanding to real world design problems to produce creative solutions. You will work dynamically with cross functional partners in Design, Vehicle Engineering and Program Management to meet challenging aerodynamics targets and redefine what is possible in the automotive industry.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Use a first principles approach to create aerodynamically efficient designs and redefine what is possible in the automotive industry
  • Work with cross functional partners, such as Design and Vehicle Engineering, from early concept to production to relentlessly improve aerodynamic performance and an awesome overall product
  • Design and modify aerodynamic concepts in CAD
  • Evaluate and refine designs using CFD and experimental methods
  • Execute wind tunnel, road, and track test programs
  • Developing experimental and computational aerodynamics tools

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • BS degree Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or a combination of education and equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in aerodynamic development or Master’s degree with experience
  • 1+ years using CFD and experimental testing, such as wind tunnel or road testing
  • 1+ years creating and manipulating 3D surfaces in CAD

Our preferred requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Detailed technical knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) fundamentals
  • Ability to work towards challenging goals with minimal supervision
  • Experience using NX, ANSA, and STAR-CCM+
  • Track record of creating and developing novel aerodynamic concepts
  • Automotive or high level racing industry experience
  • A passion for sustainable energy or solving technical challenges
