Job Summary/Basic Functions

Admissions Recruitment Ambassadors (ARA) are responsible for assisting in the creation of a welcoming, positive, and impactful visit experience at Eastern Kentucky University. Working primarily with prospective students, families, and guests, the ARA role is crucial to the recruitment process of the Office of Enrollment Management. The ARA role is one that requires consistent reliability, close attention to detail, and a desire to work with the public on a regular basis. The ARA position is responsible for the following:

  • Leading tours of prospective students, families, and / or high school students to show campus and promote the EKU experience
  • Assisting in the administrative functions of the Welcome Center which includes answering phones, emails, and interacting with the public and campus community regularly
  • Assisting in the operations of the Welcome Center including maintaining inventory, setting up the space for events, restocking complimentary coffee and refreshment bar, and keeping the space tidy
  • Participate in in-person Spotlight events, virtual events, and other special events hosted by the Office of Admissions
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and training as outlined by the Admissions professional staff team
  • Other duties as assigned which relate to assisting prospective students, families, guests, inquiries, and applicantsMinimum Qualifications

    Must be enrolled at EKU.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ARA work shifts are set based on tour times. Ideally, chosen candidates will be able to work several full shifts a week. The set shifts are 8am – 9am, 9am – 12pm, 12pm-1pm, and 1pm-4pm.

    Job Duties:

    • 40% – Leading tours of prospective students, families, and/or high school students to show campus and promote the EKU experience (40%) – (Essential)
    • 20% – Participate in in-person Spotlight events, virtual events, and other special events hosted by the Office of Admissions (20%) – (Essential)
    • 10% – Assisting in the administrative functions of the Welcome Center which includes answering phones, emails, and interacting with the public and campus community regularly (10%) – (Essential)
    • 10% – Assisting in the operations of the Welcome Center including maintaining inventory, setting up the space for events, restocking complimentary coffee and refreshment bar, and keeping the space tidy (10%) – (Essential)
    • 10% – Attend and participate in required meetings and training as outlined by the Admissions professional staff team (10%) – (Essential)
    • 10% – Other duties as assigned which relate to assisting prospective students, families, guests, inquiries, and applicants (10%) – (Essential)

    Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.
