Job Summary/Basic Functions

An EKU Athletic Academic Advisor assists student athletes in making progress toward a degree through advising, counseling, tutoring and other supportive efforts while complying with the NCAA, conference and EKU polices and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Education: – Master Degree required.

  • Preference to Masters Degree in the areas of Student Personnel Services, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or Communication field or a related field.

Experience: – One year in higher education required

  • Knowledge of working with student athletes and NCAA academic eligibility rules preferred

Job Duties:

  • 50% – Administers and monitors a comprehensive academic support program for assigned teams and student-athletes. Provides academic advising and counseling to student-athletes in various academic majors in matters related to goal setting, curriculum choice, course load, study habits, and course selection; tracks student-athlete academic performance through the use of progress reports and communication with faculty members and coaches; regulates and monitors student-athlete class registration and drop/add; identifies at-risk students and meets weekly with these SA’s and refers students to appropriate resources; meets with prospective student-athletes and families during recruiting visits – ()
  • 30% – Assists the Athletics Compliance Office and EKU Registrar office regarding student-athlete academic progress, transfer transcript evaluations, certification process and NCAA eligibility monitoring; Participates in the development and execution of programming to ensure APR/GSR success rates; Analyzes and summarizes student-athletes’ academic data for academic reports; scholarships, and academic awards. – ()
  • 10% – Supports the Bratzke office and EKU Athletics functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. – ()
  • 10% – Analyzes and summarizes student-athletes’ academic data for academic reports; scholarships, and academic awards. Create semesterly academic report. – ()
