Position Summary
Under general supervision of department chair, a person in this position is responsible for supporting the instructional and research needs of the department faculty/staff. This individual will be involved in managing lab supplies, ensuring equipment works, and assisting with student instruction. Responsibilities include ordering materials, scheduling lab events, and maintaining student access. The role also involves weekly maintenance of cadavers, tracking supplies, and preparing cadavers for lab use. Additionally, the position oversees the upkeep of the Human Performance Lab space, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining equipment, managing lab computers, and coordinating with various departments for support services.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Exercise Science or related field.
Knowledge of lab equipment, cadaver care, and safety protocols.
Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
Ability to manage supplies and inventory.
Ability to troubleshoot basic lab equipment and computer issues.
Experience with basic administrative tasks and coordinating services.
Preferred Qualifications
Lab experience in exercise science or related fields.
Experience with computer systems and lab technology, including the maintenance of specialized equipment such as metabolic carts.
Experience with ShopUW or similar ordering systems.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain lab safety standards.
Physical Demands
This position will require some lifting (with and without manual or mechanical assistance) and repetitive movements, and operation of common tools such as screwdrivers and drills.

Responsibility Statement Support and assist the instructors and the instructional needs and supply materials needed for classes in the Exercise Science Realm.

Order supplies for ongoing activities and lab experiences
Make sure the lab equipment is ready and works before the labs occur
Assist instructors and students on the use of equipment
Schedule events (labs, data collection sessions, meetings) on lab calendars as needed
Add and delete students from the C-Bord system for door access control

Weekly wet-down and visual inspection
Clean tanks as needed
Keep track of the ethanol and propylene glycol stock and contribute to the shared usage of supplies between Biology and Exercise & Sport Science
Maintain the anatomical skeletons & models in the anatomy lab
Keep a stock of gloves, disinfectant solution, industrial Dawn grease cleaner, spray bottles, cadaver dissection instruments, etc.
Coordinate the ordering, intake and return of cadavers from UW Madison
Prepare the new cadavers for labs

Clean metabolic cart pneumotachs twice a year
Check for leaks in the metabolic cart breathing tubes
Disinfect the mouthpieces used with the metabolic cart
Clean and maintain the underwater weighing tank
Make sure we have paper for the printers
Update lab computer passwords
Maintain and keep track of the lab computers
Store and organize computer accessories and other electronics such as cables, keyboards, tape, batteries, etc.
Be able to order and bookkeep all order thru ShopUW.
Call Custodial Services for custodial problems
Call Facilities Management (x-8585) for facilities problems
Call Shipping/Receiving (Jeff or Barb Santolin) for shipping/receiving problems
