Title: Senior Research Scientist
Job Overview: The Senior Research Scientist will report to the Chair of Personalized Medicine, and work collaboratively with the Personalized Medicine, and the various Center for Personalized Medicine (CPM) programs including the Genomic Health Initiative, Medical Genetics, and Pharmacogenomics, Primary Care/Population Genomics programs to support quality improvement and outcomes-based research projects using implementation science methodology. The Director will assist in these cross-institutional collaborative efforts to implement, monitor, and optimize strategic initiatives and processes as it relates to personalized medicine programing at NorthShore —Edward-Elmhurst Health.
The intent is to facilitate successful bench to bedside translation of personalized medicine leading to better patient outcomes. This will be accomplished by applying implementation science, mix methods and other appropriate frameworks to patient and research participant activities in CPM initiatives in a collaborative team based environment. This effort will generate outcomes data and analytic metrics necessary to support incorporation of personalized medicine into clinical care while complying with legal, professional, and ethical standards as they evolve at the local, regional, and national levels. Further such work will increase NorthShore’s competitiveness for securing external funding and raising external awareness of the CPM through peer reviewed publications. Part of this work may include industry collaborations to generate insights to further guide implementation projects.
Specific Duties Include:
- Participate in the development, optimization and implementation of new and existing services in CPM
- Participate and lead in successful abstract and peer-reviewed publication submissions related to CPM initiatives
- Participate and lead in planning, writing and submission of CPM-related funding proposals to federal agencies, foundations and philanthropic donors.
- Represent CPM in broader NorthShore initiatives with an emphasis on the application of implementation science research domains
- Development of quality initiatives of genomics guided care across the organization through collaborative efforts.
- Participate in the development of educational and marketing materials about how to effectively use genomic services within the CPM for external and internal use.
- Participate and lead in multi-institution collaborations and grant proposals that are consistent with the goals of CPM
- Leading operational aspects of CPM research team including coordinating NorthShore collaborative efforts with 3rd party collaborations
- Develop the team needed to successfully achieve the duties above within the CPM
- Identify growth opportunities and develop and execute successful plans for these opportunities
