JOB TITLE:                Project Manager I

LOCATION:              Madison, WI, 53707
DURATION:             02 Months (likely to extend to June 24, 2024)

Job for: H1B Visa holder, H4 EAD, L2 Visa holder, O1 Visa Holder, TN Visa holder, E3 Visa Holder, Green Card Holder.

 Note: Position is available in hybrid or 100% Remote. With a preference for remote employees to attend on-site events. Expect the onsite events to be a week, which may vary by workstream.  Additional onsite requirements may arise dependent on implementation needs. Travel will be reimbursed..

 

Top Skills & Years of Experience:

  • Five (5) years or more of experience in formal project management frameworks demonstrating:
  • Knowledge of project management tools, processes, techniques, and best practices,
  • Ability to apply project management frameworks to meet project requirements,
  • Effective behaviors and interpersonal skills to successfully implement multiple, related projects.
  • Strong planning, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Experience directly managing mid-size and/or multiple smaller, complex projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills, along with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, building highly collaborative and effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and resolving issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with senior leaders and ability to act as a partner and trusted advisor.

 

Nice to have skills:

  • Seven (7) or more years of formal project management experience and a strong track record on large-scale implementations within complex environments.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead organizational change.
  • Previous experience with formalized stage & gate processes.
  • Experience working in non-profit, government, higher-education, or other complex management/governance environment.
  • Demonstrated success influencing without authority.

 

This role is responsible for the following:

  • Manages high-priority, large project(s) or multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish, impacting the institution at large or multiple institutions.
  • Creates a project plan, monitors progress and performance against the project plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates risks and issues
  • Manages the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • Facilitates the estimation of project costs, resources, and time required to complete the assigned phase of a project and monitors activities, negotiates for resources, and assigns tasks to ensure these targets are met. Follows established change control processes if targets can no longer be met.
  • Prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
  • Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Collaborates with campus, Administrative Transformation Program (ATP), and portfolio teams to ensure campus project plans are inclusive of the activities required for a successful go-live.
