As a Pavement Coordinator, you will use our foundational drivers to play a crucial role in shaping the highways that connect communities and drive progress across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VDOT Lynchburg District is seeking a Pavement Coordinator to assist the Pavement Manager with oversight of the district pavement management program, including pavement evaluation, preventive maintenance, maintenance repair, refurbishing and replacement scheduling and estimating. Position is responsible to assist in development of estimates and cost-effective strategies to rehabilitate, preserve and extend the life of the district pavement network, maintain and update pavement management databases, as well as web-based programs. Generate and maintain automated and written reports and project records. Coordinate and provide support to internal and external stakeholders on pavement management issues and procedures. Position will assist with planning, execution and monitoring of the pavement restoration and rehabilitation program; assess and evaluate pavement needs. Collaborate with others to prepare and implement the annual paving schedule; prepare and manage project documentation on web-based SharePoint site. Maintain awareness of all project activities and deliverables, ensuring project work is completed within established timeframes. Administer the Rideability Program for pavement evaluation and scoping for resurfacing schedules; prepare and submit applicable testing documents. Perform field reviews and inspections to determine compliance with policies, procedures, and standards. Minimum Qualifications
Skills in the use of computers and software applications to include database applications
and web-based programs.
Ability to interpret pavement plans, specifications and contracts
Ability to assist with preparation of maintenance contracts
Knowledge of pavement distress types and severity levels
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external
stakeholders
Ability to provide training and guidance to end users
Ability to prepare and maintain complex records and reports
Knowledge of highway construction and maintenance materials
Technical knowledge of pavement management and methods
Valid driver’s license
Additional Considerations
Experience in pavement management to include pavement ratings, properties, sampling
and testing procedures
Knowledge of HTRIS, RNS, PMSS and PMS data collection, editing and file maintenance.
Experience in data collection processes and schedule development
A combination of training, experience or education in Civil Engineering, or related field
desired.
