Financial Analyst
This position provides analytical support to leaders at NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health regarding strategic forecasting, capital planning and other system wide initiatives. This includes participating in the budgeting and forecasting process, as well as, designing and preparing management reports, analyzing operating results and communicating results of analysis to senior management. This position interfaces with management teams across both operations and corporate areas. The incumbent must understand Company business strategies and issues and be able to utilize and modify financial models in support of Company initiatives.

- Hours: Monday-Friday, during normal business hours
What you will do:
- Participate in the preparation of the Annual Budget and on-going forecasts
- Active participation in development of department level budgets/forecasts for Income and Expenses and key performance metrics ensuring reasonableness
- Assist in budget load processes
- Create, edit and issue budget reports
- Assist in the testing and validation of budget and forecasting tools which facilitate collection and consolidation of budgets across the system
- Financial Analysis
- Prepare and issue monthly analysis of operating results with some supervision
- Partner with corporate leaders to explain month and year-to-date variances and submit commentary explaining variances
- Develop routine and ad hoc reports for senior and division management
- Requires ability to learn and manipulate data in our reporting tools
- Assist with month-end close (as necessary)
- Miscellaneous Surveys and Special Analyses/Projects
- Prepare surveys and questionnaires as assigned (i.e. AHA Annual survey, IDPH Annual Questionnaires, various U.S. Census surveys) with manager supervision
- Perform account reconciliations for audit purposes
- Gather information and assist in the preparation of long term financial and capital forecasts
What you will need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- Experience: 0-3 years of accounting and/or planning and analysis experience
- Knowledge of basic accounting concepts as they relate to the profit and loss and balance sheet statements and the relationships between them
- Skills:
- Exceptional precision and accuracy with financial models and analysis
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical thinking skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products required
- Strong ability to learn new systems and tools
