The minimum requirements we seek:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in development operations

Our preferred requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Passion for software infrastructure. Specifically technologies used in operations, infrastructure, deployment, data storage, and monitoring.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery tools and pipelines (e.g., Kubernetes, Jenkins, Tekton, Terraform, Gradle, etc.)
  • Experience with Google Cloud Portal (others such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Heroku, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, are welcome as well)
  • Knowledge of persistence technologies (e.g., Relational Database Management Services, no-SQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices, or Extreme Programming
  • Experience with API-based back-end systems using tech stacks like Java-Spring

What you’ll be able to do :

Drive next-generation technology research and usage at FordLabs, Ford’s premier software incubation group. Through the principles of human-centered design, Lean Startup, and Extreme Programming, we leverage the build-measure-learn cycle to quickly ship working, tested software at market speed for user feedback and learning. As part of the FordLabs DevOps team, you will shape how we deliver software solutions and enable your team-mates in the execution of experiments that quickly de-risk new business ideas incubating within the larger Ford Motor Company. You’ll work with balanced engagement teams to help them move as quickly as possible, and also influence infrastructure within the larger Ford Motor Company. Within our highly collaborative environment, you will:

  • Design, deploy, and support the FordLabs software infrastructure enabling all product development within FordLabs
  • Define the process for FordLabs operations, infrastructure, deployment, data storage, and monitoring
  • Provide DevOps thought leadership across FordLabs and the greater Ford community
  • Research, define, design, develop, and deploy applications and services
  • Create prototypes to test business ideas with working software
  • Use Agile principles and Extreme Programming practices to sustainably and efficiently engineer software
  • Collaborate with product managers, product designers, and other software engineers to define product direction
  • Integrate with other Ford systems and business processes to create new digital experiences
  • Partner with software engineers from other teams to create solutions that proven value
  • Collaborate with Autonomous Vehicle, Marketing, Advanced Analytics, etc. to define customer needs and exceed customer expectations.
