Job Description
“*This position can be located in either our Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH offices.
As an integral CDM Smith New England Transportation team member, you will be a Task Leader for highway design projects and pursuits throughout New England. Responsibilities include;
-Coordinating the technical content of projects including driving the technical vision of the end product, ensuring the technical accuracy of the work product, ensuring the right technical skill sets are on the project at the correct time, developing and mentoring technical project staff, and coordinating all aspects of the project with our clients.
-Providing day-to-day direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
-Developing project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
-Writing of technical reports.
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
-Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
-5 years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
-Strong background with MassDOT, CTDOT, and/or Municipal roadway/highway design projects.
-Experience in task management and delivering roadway and multi-modal design projects from initiation through final design.
-Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads.
-Experience completing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of drainage systems and stormwater management design.
-EIT Certification.

Skills and Abilities
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).

Please note that pay ranges vary based on geographic location. In addition to geographic location, the company considers several other factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, education/training and key skills.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
