Construction Manager | Chicago, Illinois
Full-time | Temporary

Pay rate: $75-80/hr (Depending on experience)

Start Date: August 2024
Duration: Until the end of the year with the possibility of extension until April of the following year with possible conversion to direct hire
Travel Requirements: No travel outside of Illinois. The role involves moving between Abbott Park, Des Plaines, Itasca, and occasionally the Willis Tower.

Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee multiple concurrent construction projects within the Greater Lake County area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems, industrial facilities, and construction project management, with the ability to coordinate and manage projects effectively while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

Oversee the execution of multiple construction projects including HVAC system replacements, chiller installations, electrical upgrades, window replacements, and facility renovations.
Coordinate and manage trades, ensuring projects stay on track with schedules and budgets.
Provide daily construction updates and communicate effectively with clients regarding project progress, impacts, and plans.

Site Coordination:

Ensure compliance with FAA regulations for crane lifts near the O’Hare airport.
Manage construction activities around operational manufacturing spaces, ensuring minimal disruption to production.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all projects adhere to environmental and safety regulations, including soil testing and underground tank testing.
Oversee the installation of a trench system and 15,000-gallon containment tank for a corrosive chemical in the Itasca distribution center.

Administrative Duties:

Utilize Microsoft Project and Smartsheet for project scheduling and management.
Prepare and maintain project documentation using Bluebeam and other Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, preferably within industrial or manufacturing environments.
Proven experience with HVAC projects, underground construction, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills:

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage complex crane lifts and ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
