Job Summary/Basic Functions

An EKU Paraeducator II at the Burrier Child Development Center, under the direction of certified educators, performs a variety of skilled instructional functions pertaining to specific student skill development of both special needs and non-identified pupils. Through intense learning experiences, student supervision and academic performance documentation, the Paraeducator assists educators daily in support of preschool student growth, including independent classroom management and instructional services, and pre-service learning for EKU students. This position will also lead the Burrier extended learning program, working with EKU student workers to provide continued educational services for preschool students at the conclusion of the regular school day. Paraeducators must meet job description requirements, including physical, such as standing, walking and being able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Experience:

Licensure & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of experience working with youth in an organized setting supplemented with some instructional experience in a classroom environment serving children and parents, preferably inclusive of special needs and multicultural students.

Job Duties:

  • 45% – Provide student instruction under the direction of certified educators. – (Essential)
  • 45% – Assist with oversight and operation of the extended learning program. – (Essential)
  • 10% – Assist with additional job functions that arise as requested/assigned. – (Essential)
