We are seeking a leader who will help project teams develop 3D intelligent models and coordinate project execution using BIM (Building Information Modeling) software and tools. You will organize BIM workflows and digital design methods and apply our firm-wide BIM strategy and standards to design and construction projects. As a BIM Modeler and Coordinator you will:
- Prepare basic to highly complex intelligent models, details and/or general arrangement drawings through proper translation of level of design (LOD), drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of predominantly practical engineering knowledge. Review manufacturers or fabricators prints for aid in design documents. Provide lower‐level modeling personnel with design sketches for preparation of finished design drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining technical requirements.
- Assist with establishment of design criteria for assigned phases of a project requiring the application of basic architectural or engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.
- Perform technical support tasks such as verifying intelligent model integrity. Act as BIM Coordinator for basic to moderately complex projects during the project lifecycle to ensure coordination across the design team. Perform crosscheck of drawings to ensure consistency and adherence to firm’s QA/QC standards. Provide general conceptual input to projects during the planning stages and support or leads field assignments as required.
- Provides planning, leadership and technical oversight of discipline Building Information Models and collaboration point person for federated models. Provides effective enforcement (governance) of VDC guidelines, standards and content.
- Perform related fundamental support tasks such as plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, file management and/or, filing prints, and distributing drawings.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling.
- 15 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- Understanding of a variety of authoring software including Plant 3D, Civil 3D, and Microstation. Must be able to understand software capabilities, limitations, and interoperability.
- Familiarity with Dynamo, Forge, Python, or other BIM applications.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise, SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Amount of Travel Required
Skills and Abilities
- Experience providing effective governance of VDC/BIM guidelines, standards, and content.
- Experience leading interdisciplinary BIM coordination meetings and managing clash resolution process and documentation, troubleshooting, and managing coordination issues and conflicts between disciplines.
- Experience managing and overseeing model maintenance, BIM/model QAQC processes, file structure and archiving.
- Excellent communication skills with strict attention to detail.
- Demonstrates ability to be a flexible team player and have the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office for design related tasks and discipline specific design/analysis software primarily within the BIM/CADD environment.
- Advanced working knowledge of the BIM/CADD drafting commands.
- Solid working knowledge of intelligent modeling technologies.
