Job Summary/Basic Functions
Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Fire Protection & Paramedicine Sciences. The Assistant Professor will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in the areas of fire protection, fire dynamics and fire chemistry. These courses include, but are not limited to FSE 120 Fire Behavior and Combustion and FSE 355 Fire Dynamics. This position will have an emphasis in one or more of the following degree programs: Fire Protection Administration, Fire and Explosion Investigations, or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology (FPSET). All three degree programs are accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), while the FPSET degree is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
This position requires a Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or the foreign equivalent, 4 months of experience teaching a fire protection course at a university/college level, and 1 year of experience researching in the field of fire protection engineering. Offers of employment are contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
