The Opportunity

 

Cornell admissions representatives provide inclusive information and guidance to prospective students, ensuring access to diverse academic opportunities aligned with the institution’s strategic enrollment goals. Admissions services operate within a collaborative organizational system, fostering partnerships between staff in various colleges, schools, and units, along with the Division of Enrollment offices, to effectively support admissions functions.

The Admissions & Scholarship team at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management attracts, selects, and matriculates the highest caliber of diverse students in the MBA (Masters of Business Administration).

 


As the Admissions and Applications Coordinator, you will:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for prospective students interested in our residential Ithaca-based MBA program.
  • Contribute to enhancing the application process and enrolling student experience for Two-year applicants.
  • Maintain accurate application records in Salesforce and ensure timely preparation of applications for committee evaluation according to strict deadlines.
  • Provide highly personalized and comprehensive support to inquiries and applicants, guiding them through the application process and program options by demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of application requirements, admissions policies, academic programs, career resources, and student activities across all Residential MBA programs.
  • Conduct pre-application consultations and connect applicants with relevant university stakeholders.
  • Engage prospective students through various communication channels, including phone, email, and online Ask Admissions chats.
  • Coordinate enrollment processes with the Registrar and Student Services team.
  • Assist with deferral processes, audit official documentation, and facilitate international student visa procedures.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Anticipate applicants’ needs aligned with the office’s goals and think critically and creatively about process solutions.
  • Take the initiative on issues, pay close attention to detail, employ good judgment and decision-making abilities, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Utilize CRM and office software technologies effectively.

 


This hybrid position includes four days on the Ithaca Campus in Sage Hall and one day remote. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with the expectation of flexibility for coverage of occasional evening or weekend recruitment events on campus, sometimes resulting in overtime pay.

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and anticipatory in your work based on understanding and leveraging processes and tasks on strict timelines.
  • A collaborative team player who isn’t afraid to ask for help when needed, and you notice when you jump right in to help the team without being asked.
  • You have excellent customer service skills, including, effective prioritization, communication, and follow-up.
  • Have experience working with large amounts of confidential data, and you’ve overseen data in some capacity.

 


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Experience working with diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing programs.
  • Passion for promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent, with 2 to 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • A cover letter and resume outlining your interest and how your experience and goals align with the potential for mutual success in the role are required for consideration.

 

If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it’s ok if you don’t.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with 1 to 2 years of admissions experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with admissions CRMs and technologies such as Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Linvio, Sumo, and Image Now systems.
  • Strong customer service and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive disposition, and organizational abilities.

  • This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The position will allow for the flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week at a location of employee’s choosing within the United States.
