Job Summary/Basic Functions
The EKU Department of Chemistry invites applications for the position of full-time Administrative Professional II.
This position provides administrative support to the department administration, faculty, staff, and students through coordination, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and office functional management. Performs routine clerical and administrative functions including drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, and providing information to callers. Hires, trains, and manages student office workers as needed. Provides excellent customer service in support of the department of function. Maintains departmental budgets.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited and recognized four (4) year college or university, and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible clerical, secretarial and/ or administrative support is required. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with faculty, students, and the university community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Certification or graduation from a four (4) year college or university.
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible clerical, secretarial and/ or administrative support is required.

Job Duties:
- 35% – Performs multiple duties, which are a mix of administrative support in nature, which may include, but are not limited to, data gathering, data management, internal and external communication, filing, electronic data management, calendar management, registration, mail distribution, and customer service. – (Essential)
- 30% – Assists with budget preparation, tracking and monitoring, travel/expense voucher processing, and other accounting or financial tasks. – (Essential)
- 15% – Provides professional services in support of the department/program goals. – (Essential)
- 15% – Supports the coordination, and/or scheduling of special events for department functions or related activities. – (Essential)
- 5% – Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. – (Essential)
