Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant I provides professional office support to the faculty, instructional academic staff, and graduate and undergraduate students affiliated with the Center on Disability Health and Adapted Physical Activity (Center) within the Department of Exercise and Sport Science (College of Science and Health). In addition, the Administrative Assistant I supports the undergraduate and graduate Adapted Physical Education (APE) academic programs for the work related to Center activities. The Administrative Assistant I will organize client/participant information for on-going communication; assist with Center budget functions; maintain inventory and order supplies; and assist with clerical tasks for grant proposals, related reports, and budgets. The support includes undergraduate and graduate academic programs that relate to the Center and community-service clinical education programs implemented by the Center (i.e., Children’s Motor Development Program; Adult Fitness Program; Physical Activity Mentoring Program for Persons with Disabilities, and others).

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, professionals, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and complete quality work.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks when requested to meet program objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with people across multiple level of the university.
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of email (i.e., Outlook) for individual and group communication.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with people in verbal and written modes, including those that may present challenging situations and persons with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UWL administrative, budget, and other computer system functions (WINGS, etc.).
