Attending Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Treatment and Recovery Center (PTRC)
Worcester, MA

The UMass Memorial Health Care Department of Psychiatry is the largest provider of psychiatric services in central Massachusetts with over 400 faculty members who work in a variety of settings within UMass Memorial Health Care,the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, and the public sector. We integrate our clinical, research, teaching and community partnership activities to help individuals and families transform their lives through recovery from mental illness and addiction.

Our Psychiatric Treatment and Recovery Center (PTRC) is a 26-bed community-based general inpatient psychiatric unit located in downtown Worcester and a flagship teaching program of the Department. We seek a board-eligible or board-certified psychiatrist for an Attending Psychiatrist role.

  • The Attending Psychiatrist, PTRC will provide acute clinical care to patients challenged by significant mental illness and who have or will need intense community support following discharge.
  • They will also work with medical students and residents on this teaching unit.
  • The Attending Psychiatrist will typically follow 12 patients at a time.
The Hospital has outstanding training programs which include 27 residents and fellows as well as 16 trainees. Our Psychiatry positions offer the opportunity for involvement in a full range of activities. We are a national leader in public sector psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurodevelopmental disorders, biological psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychosocial rehabilitation, women’s mental health, and addiction psychiatry.
