Job Summary/Basic Functions
Part-time recruiter position for Veterans Upward Bound. Mission is to promote the program and recruit eligible participants. Position will focus on weekend events and finding strategic locations to access veterans in these counties: Clay, Fayette, Knox, Laurel, Madison, McCreary, Rockcastle, Pulaski, and Whitley. Will need to coordinate with local veteran and military groups to reach local veterans. Candidate needs to be a veteran or current guard/reserve member and willing and able to speak in front of groups and to individuals about the program and services. This position is designed to be 100% field work in the communities we serve. Training can be in person or virtual. Candidate may reside in any of our Target counties. A temporary pop-up office base will need to be established in a local library or public space for any in person meetings with co-workers/participants.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma
Experience: With veterans, military members and/or TRIO programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Seeking a Veteran (highly preferred), experience with TRIO participants and/or veterans and military members. Knowledge of career pathways, educational opportunities and military education benefits.
Job Duties:
- 75% – Able to effective recruit eligible veterans into the Veterans Upward Bound program (Speaking with possible participants about the program, explaining how VUB can assist Vets into accessing education and career pathways and assisting them with filling out the paper or electronic application if needed are two key components of effectively recruiting eligible vets into VUB). – (Essential)
- 10% – Paper work and other duties as needed. Will need to submit documentation for mileage reimbursement for attending events. – (Essential)
- 15% – Seeking out opportunities for recruiting and serving local veterans included but not limited to reaching out to local veteran and military groups to coordinate events and recruitment efforts, promoting the program via social media, and seeking out partnership opportunities and creating those. – (Essential)
Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the needs of the unit, available sponsorship budget, and the qualifications of the candidate.
