The Rehabilitation Area Manager (RAM) is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and analyzing the entire scope of comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Service delivery in Alexandria, Fergus Falls, and Staples, so those with a physical or mental disability within that service territory receive Vocational Rehabilitation Services to help them reach their goals of working and living in the community.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Providing clinical and administrative supervision to ensure the provision of quality Vocational Rehabilitation case work, in compliance with the state and federal law, consistent with departmental policies, procedures, and goals so that the casework function is in full compliance and results in quality client services.
Managing and directing the personnel functions of the field office so that all positions are utilized, that staff perform their duties effectively, and all applicable labor agreements and plans are accurately administered.
Providing team leadership and supervision so the work environment is healthy, cohesive, and productive; staff understand their role on the team; commitment and innovation are increased; and morale is enhanced.
Developing and maintaining effective collaborative partnerships which promote customer service, enhance healthy customer relations, and assure all necessary coordination of services between VRS and other community agencies.
Planning and managing the field office case service and non-personnel expenditures so that available funds are administered in a productive, cost-effective way for the optimal provision of Vocational Rehabilitation Services to persons with disabilities.
This position can work out of any of the three (3) offices it supervises: Alexandria, Fergus Falls, and Staples.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other closely related field as determined by the agency
AND
Three (3) years of experience which demonstrates knowledge of the disability employment services system including leading of staff performing intake, eligibility determination, priority for services, assessment for VR needs, career counseling, case management, and fiscal responsibilities.
Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
Experience in:
Collaborating with partners and agencies at a local, regional, and statewide level to build systems change, person-centered policies, and effective practices sufficient to help people with disabilities reach their goals for competitive, integrated employment.
Project management and coordination, including strategic planning and budgeting.
Leading a team to meet the organization’s expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
Skill in communication sufficient to negotiate, collaborate, build, and maintain positive working relationships with community rehabilitation providers, business and agencies in local, regional, and state government, and stakeholder groups.
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a managerial or supervisory role which demonstrates knowledge of the disability employment services system including leading of staff performing career counseling, case management, fiscal responsibilities, job development, job placement, and retention services.
