Are you a skilled communicator looking to work in a fast-paced environment? The Commissioner’s Office is hiring a Tribal Relations Planner in the Commissioner’s Office to support effective government relations between the State and the Tribes, by helping facilitate the tribal tax agreement negotiation process. In this role you will have the opportunity to flex your skills with a wide range of administrative responsibilities such as meeting logistics and travel planning, purchasing, creating and maintaining content in our intranet environment, and coordinating the administrative responsibilities of tribal tax agreements. This position will include periodic statewide travel to Tribal Nations located in Minnesota.

Telework is available and negotiated at the time of hire. There may be periodic in office requirements as directed by management. The employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years experience working in an executive office and/or experience working with tribal governments*
Must have reliable transportation or a valid class D driver’s license

An associate degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience. Majors in Business Administration, English, Communications, American Indian Studies, or closely related fields are acceptable.

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated during the interview based on the following:

Strong teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts across the organization
Experience juggling multiple projects and deliverables with fluctuating deadlines, while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
Problem solving skills sufficient to solve workflow, scheduling, and other coordinating challenges

Preferred Qualifications

Desire and ability to innovate and improve upon processes
Experience with managing complex and ambiguous issues, maintaining confidentiality, establishing trust, and fostering collaboration among leaders, teams, and stakeholders
Experience analyzing department and divisional applications and making recommendations to improve/revise/modify work methods, procedures and forms
Experience taking initiative to self-start and to work without close supervision
Experience conducting research of a policy and operational nature ensuring accurate and concise issue analysis
Advanced level computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools

Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
Additional Requirements
