We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer to join our engineering team and help modernize and expand our core platform.</p><p>Role Overview</p><p>As a Senior Java Developer at Chordline Health, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade healthcare applications. You will work across the full stack, contributing to backend services, database interactions, and dynamic user interfaces while ensuring the highest standards of performance, security, and compliance.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based web applications running on Apache Tomcat</li><li>Build and enhance RESTful APIs and backend services using Jakarta EE technologies</li><li>Develop and maintain dynamic UI components using Kendo UI and jQuery</li><li>Help optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and stored procedures</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, QA, and DevOps</li><li>Ensure security, scalability, and HIPAA compliance across all components</li><li>Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and performance tuning</li><li>Support containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines</li><li>Maintain and improve automated testing best practices</li></ul><p>Required Technical Skills</p><p>1\. Core Java and Jakarta EE (formerly J2EE)</p><ul><li>Strong expertise in Core Java and enterprise application development</li><li>Hands-on experience with Apache Tomcat</li><li>Deep understanding of: Servlets and JSPs (HttpServlet implementations and server-side rendering), Jakarta EE APIs, including: jakarta.servlet, jakarta.xml.bind, JAX-RS (Jersey) for RESTful services</li><li>Extensive experience with JDBC and SQL, including: ResultSet, CallableStatement, Custom database wrappers</li><li>Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server</li></ul><p>2\. Kendo UI and jQuery</p><ul><li>Strong frontend development experience using: Kendo UI for jQuery (Grids, TabStrips, DropDownLists, Observables)</li><li>JavaScript and jQuery for: DOM manipulation, AJAX calls, event handling,</li><li>Experience implementing MVVM patterns using: kendo.observable, data-binding techniques</li></ul><p>3\. Database Management (T-SQL)</p><ul><li>Comfortable knowledge of T-SQL and relational databases</li><li>Expertise in: writing and optimizing stored procedures, debugging and performance tuning SQL code</li><li>Understanding of healthcare-related data models, including: members, providers, authorizations</li></ul><p>4\. API Development</p><ul><li>Strong experience designing and maintaining APIs: RESTful services (JAX-RS/Jersey)</li><li>Familiarity with: OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation and client generation</li><li>Proficiency with JSON processing, including: Jackson library (ObjectNode, ArrayNode)</li></ul><p>5. AI Assisted Development Skills</p><ul><li>Skilled with JetBrains IntelliJ development IDE</li><li>Experience using Junie/ JetBrains AI on existing codebases</li></ul><p>6\. Playwright Proficiency</p><ul><li>Locators & Selectors: Mastering getByRole, getByText, and getByLabel as seen in the workflows. Avoiding brittle CSS/XPath selectors.</li><li>Handling Asynchronous Actions: Understanding how Playwright manages auto-waiting and how to use explicit waitFor or expect assertions correctly.</li><li>Context & Page Management: Using browserContext and page objects, especially for handling multiple tabs or authentication states.</li><li>Playwright Test Runner: Familiarity with playwright.config.js, project configurations, and CLI flags (like --headed, --project).</li></ul><p>7\. JavaScript (ES Modules)</p><ul><li>ES Modules: Understanding import/export syntax and how modules interact.</li><li>Asynchronous Programming: Strong grasp of async/await and Promises.</li><li>Error Handling: Using try...catch blocks effectively for optional steps.</li></ul><p>Nice-To-Have Skills</p><p>1\. Healthcare Domain Knowledge</p><ul><li>Familiarity with healthcare workflows, particularly: Authorization and referral processes</li><li>Experience working with: Clinical data (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes), member and provider relationships</li><li>Strong understanding of: HIPAA compliance, data privacy, auditing, and security for PHI</li></ul><p>2. DevOps and Infrastructure</p><ul><li>Experience working in modern DevOps environments, including: Docker for containerization, apache Tomcat configuration (context.xml, server.xml, parallel deployment strategies), maven for dependency management and builds, redis for session management in distributed systems</li><li>TeamCity: Understanding how deployments are managed from DevOps tools.</li><li>GitHub Actions: Understanding how workflows are triggered (cron, manual, deployment), how secrets are passed from GitHub to the tests, and how to analyze artifacts (HTML reports, videos) from failed runs.</li><li>Environment Context: Knowing the difference between local execution (often headed) and CI execution (headless) and how the framework handles these differences automatically.</li></ul><p>3\.
