CDM Smith is seeking a Finance Project Manager to join our CDM Constructors Inc. (CCI) Team. Reporting into the CCI Director of Finance, this individual directs the finance, accounting, contract administration, cost estimating and pricing, or project control functions for a region of the company to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as government regulations.

  • Develops the annual budgets in conjunction with the designated local manager. Manages the region’s financial issues including compliance with budget and contractual requirements, financial reporting and review, coordination with the headquarters accounting function for payment processing and invoice development. Develops, manages, and monitors unit’s operating budget.
  • Manages the day-to-day activity of staff. Provides feedback on performance issues appraisals. Manages the development and training of staff. Approves paid time off (PTO) requests and ensures human resources policies are followed.
  • Supports the development of cost and pricing proposals for procurements.
  • Reviews terms and conditions teaming agreements, contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements. Manages post-award contract administration and closeout.
  • Advises operational and office staff regarding contractual, cost estimating and pricing, procure to pay, and financial issues.
  • Analyze risk and opportunities for projects and communicate results through an impactful narrative.
  • Accurately record costs and forecasts while recognizing at-risk projects and where the risk is.
  • Ensure billings are accurate, timely and receivables monitored.
  • Provides administrative support to the unit’s management and staff in appropriate areas of expertise.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8 years of related experience.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interact with senior leadership as well as all levels of staff.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction operational finances.
  • Ability to oversee the concurrent preparation of complex projects involving close attention to detail, coordination with many levels of staff, and compliance with multiple externally imposed deadlines.
  • Maintains strong familiarity with the firm’s contractual requirements and knowledge of company policies and procedures that implement government regulations applicable to contracts, cost estimating/pricing, procurement, and financial considerations.
  • Ability to manage staff.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
