Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant Director, Counseling & Outreach will join a team of Financial Aid Professionals servicing undergraduate and graduate students at Eastern Kentucky University. This position will manage the counseling team and Federal Work Study, and have administrative oversight of relevant policies, programs, and services to ensure funds are appropriately communicated, awarded, disbursed, and accurately reconciled.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: Three years of related experience is required.

Job Duties:

  • 15% – Assume an active role in the development, implementation, and administration of collaborative student services, including but not limited to, One Stop Shop, Banner Self-Service, strategic communications, and other programming efforts. – (Essential)
  • 20% – Supervise Sr. Financial Aid Counselors and Operations Specialist, providing professional growth opportunities to increase content knowledge, customer service, collaboration, and performance of direct reports. – (Essential)
  • 50% – Oversees compliance with regulations, including financial awards, academic progress, and appeals. You’ll ensure adherence to rules on missing or incomplete information, budgeting, audits, and documentation. Conducting research to understand changing regulation and keeping policy and procedures up to date. – (Essential)
  • 10% – In collaboration with the Executive Director, oversees the Federal Work-Study approval process and ensures compliance with all Federal Work-Study regulations. – (Essential)
  • 5% – Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. – ()
